Memento is sure to have become one of the break-through projects in the global ceramics industry of 2013. The fruit of collaboration between Ceramica Vallelunga and the famous Italian designer Giovanni Barbieri, it strikes with beautiful simplicity. Indeed, there is no need to reinvent the wheel. The series offers glazed porcelain stoneware that renders the chic of light and neutral grades of marble. All formats are also conventional. Even large tiles of 45×90 cm will not impress anybody today. The zest of Memento is in its surface, which is velvety, pleasing to the touch and producing ethereal highlights. The surface is neither matt, nor glossy. The artificially aged (patinated) surface has pronounced irregularities that enhance the visual and tactile effects.
The rich range of sizes promotes the experiments with tile setting. The relief Ambra tiles of 60×60 cm with accentuated waves (the signature style of Giovanni Barbieri) are intended for walls. In addition, the series offers the ample choice of luxurious decors and mosaics.
Memento was enthusiastically welcomed not only in Europe and Russia, but also in the USA. In December 2013, it won the prestigious "Best of the Year 2013" award by Interior Design, the leading US trade magazine. Memento by Vallelunga was ranked the best product among hard surfacing materials. Moreover, the series was noted by the experts for the most precise emulation of natural material.
