In February, Valencia hosted the annual Cevisama event, which is rightfully regarded the key venue and the major trend-setter for the Spanish brands throughout the year ahead. We would like to offer a brief overview of the exhibition, outlining the dominating development paths of the ceramic tile industry. Noteworthy, the popularity of the brick-effect tile keeps growing along with the expansion of the Italian tile market. The faux-wood, concrete-effect tile and patchwork items remain among the most sought-after tiling materials.
The Spanish brand Aparici has done a huge homework on the threshold of Cevisama. The success of Carpet has inspired the manufacturer for the ongoing experiments with tapestry patterns (Kilim). However Kilim is dramatically different. Here, every tile is a miniature representation of a large-size tapestry. The fanciful patterns (12 versions) are randomly mixed in a box, allowing for the kaleidoscopic patchwork settings. Aparici also presents Brickwork, the series which renders the effect of brick masonry.
The range of fine porcelain stoneware by Apavisa is complemented by the concrete-effect Nanoarea collection. The Tetris L-elements by Nanoarea are of particular interest. Simple but non-trivial, these elements cater infinite ideas of original layouts, for example, for the so-called "tetris" arrangements.
The Spanish brand Mainzu continues the experiments with small-size tile. The Livorno, Oporto and Lisboa collections are conceived in the unique size of 20×20 cm. Tavira is composed of the concave pieces of 15×15 cm. Verona and Laton are ideated as brickwork-effect series of 10×20 cm. However the traditional sizes do not mean that only classical motives are employed. Therefore the new arrivals by Mainzu also feature the ever-popular patchwork patterns, and even the funny hipster animals.
The designers of Atlantic Tiles implement the ideas borrowed from other spheres of design. Aston reinterprets the colors and shapes typical of automotive design. Smeaton is named after the English engineer of the 18th century. The collection embraces the concrete-effect items, which feature versatile buildings and structures. John Smeaton was famous first of all due to his projects of lighthouses and bridges erected in Scotland.
Cifre expands the Woodmotion line with the high-end realistic imitations of wood: Kendo, Woodstyle, Amazonia, and Foresta. What is more, following the dominating trends, Cifre offers the brick-effect Cottage series.
Tactile by Newker is a charming series, which reproduces the texture of textile and paper. Desert catches the eye by the mesmerizing oriental decors.
Bestile comes up at Cevisama 2016 with a portfolio of large-format tile. In line with the textures of stone and concrete, common for porcelain stoneware slabs, the portfolio embraces the ceramic tile collections, which render the wood-effect mosaic (Caravaggio), as well as the patchwork series (Monkada, Cottocento, Pedraza). The collections of small-format tile are upgraded with new chromatic variations and sizes. Moreover, there are several absolutely new series, among which is Zurbaran, the beautiful glossy collection, remarkable for the tactile relief.
Gayafores launches Tribeca, a collection that imitates the refurbished wood. The series comprises the wall and floor tile, which is perfectly matchable with another new arrival by Gayafores, the patchwork-style Grenier tile. The framed graphical designs look smaller than they are, making up the beautiful multicolor mixes. What is more, the portfolio of Gayafores has been expanded by the brick-effect Boldstone porcelain tile and the relief Varana series.
Natucer is focused on the tile texture. Concrete comprises the square, hexagonal and octagonal concrete-effect tile, as well as the beveled-edge items, ideal for chevrons and other original layouts. Monte reproduces the texture of natural stone in the same sizes and shapes. The exhibition stand of Natucer graphically demonstrates the multiple setting options, making use of all available tile sizes.
The portfolio of Ape is enhanced by the brickwork-effect Broadway and Granada collections.
Cristacer has developed two extraordinary complementary shapes. Carnaby offers the ornately shaped antique-style elements perfectly matchable with the texturized terracotta inserts. Fusta features the same shapes, complemented this time by the wood effect inserts. Marina, another collection by Cristacer, which deserves close attention, is ideated as vanity mosaic in warm shadings enhanced by the beautiful patchwork decors.
The charismatic new arrivals, including several brickwork-effect collections, are offered by Realonda. Among them are the glossy Gala tile and the elegant Manhattan "bricks". According to the designers of Realonda, this is the key trend of contemporary wall coverings, simultaneously smart and affordable.
The Spanish brand Equipe also offers several modern-looking loft tile series. The essence of the Brick series is clear from its name. The collection encompasses the tile of 10×20 and 6×24.6 cm. The items of 6×24.6 cm have different calibers, which enhances the similarity to brick. Kite is remarkable for the non-trivial elongated octagons. The unicolor backgrounds are complemented by the patchwork patterns.
Carnaval is a beautiful collection of glass mosaic developed by Intermatex specifically for export to the Latin America. However the series is also available in our Tile Catalogue.
