The history of Fincibec Group dates back to the 1950's, when the first Cibec workshop was set up in Sassuolo to become the leading manufacturer of machinery and equipment for ceramic industry of the time. Having launched the production of tiles in 1960's, Cibec was among the pioneers of floor porcelain tile manufacturing. In 1970's, the company top managers made a crucial decision to completely withdraw from equipment manufacturing and switch to wall and floor tile production.
In 1976, the company name was changed for Monocibec. In order to satisfy the growing demand, the production capacities were significantly upgraded in 1981. The 1990's were marked by the ongoing development, acquisition of two production facilities and subsequent launching of two new brands. Naxos (with production facility in Solignano) focuses on the production of white body wall tiles, whilst Century (headquartered in Roteglia) supplies technical porcelain stoneware for large-scale projects.
Established in 1997 and driven by the passion for evolution and accomplishment, nowadays Fincibec Group keeps moving forward. The company annual turnover exceeds EUR 70 mln with more than 400 skilled professionals involved. The annual output equals to 5.2 mln sqm, where 75 % is porcelain stoneware and 25 % – wall ceramic tiles (all figures refer to 2015).
Committed to scientific research and innovations, the Fincibec Group caters to the market premium quality products certified to the highest international standards. Besides, the concern is devoted to sustainable development. The entire production cycle ensures the highest level of environmental protection and safety. Concerned about safety of the interior spaces, Fincibec has developed Antibact, a specific treatment applied to tile surfaces to guarantee long-lasting antibacterial action.
Every tile produced by Naxos, Monocibec and Century is branded "Ceramics of Italy" to emphasize that all the products are designed and made in Italy. What is more, the Fincibec Group together with Confindustria Ceramica (the association of the Italian ceramic tile and refractory material manufacturers) are committed to the complete transparency of product origins.
Of course, the choice of materials offered in the current Century catalogue is not limited to technical porcelain stoneware (to mention such tile series as Planet or Kosmos). The brand portfolio has been recently diversified to include the results of design experiments (for instance, Sherwood, the collection that looks like antiqued wood; Pantheon, which imitates the rough surface of stone; Keramos, which is highlighted by the non-trivial textures and captivating shades).
