One of the most prestigious quarters of Barcelona conceals the Monastery of Pedralbes, the pearl of gothic Catalan architecture of the 14th century. This architectural masterpiece serves the fount of inspiration for the designers of Ticsa Ceramics to conceive the homonymous collection.
Pedralbes is a fabulous, entirely hand-made, cotto series. This tile is produced in accordance with the centuries old traditions. Every article is formed by hand and dried outdoors. Depending on the article size, shape, thickness and season, the process of drying takes from 6 to 8 weeks. Pedralbes Antiqued Terra-Cotta is available in two finishes. The OHS (original hand smoothed) tile undergoes manual polishing. It preserves the lines left by craftsmen during final forming. This is a sort of the company hallmark, the proof of exclusively manual tile production. The VTG (vintage) articles are distinguished by their rustic look. The edges of this tile are uneven, occasionally elevated. The surface is non-uniform as well. This finishing technique is another discovery by Ticsa Ceramics. Once the tile is installed, rubbed and waxed, it looks even older.
The assortment of available sizes and flexibility of setting options simply amaze. Ticsa Ceramics is one of the few European factories, which produce large-format cotto-tile of 50×50 and 60×60 cm. This process is complex from the viewpoint of forming and drying. Therefore, only several companies venture to produce these exclusive articles. The broad range of decorative pieces is worth of particular attention. The royal motifs and blazonry recall the Medieval Europe. They are applied on the decors using special-purpose enamels, engraving or metallic inserts. Another characteristic feature and advantage of Pedralbes is the versatility of trimming elements, such as steps, risers and corners. However, notwithstanding the available trims and decors, Ticsa Ceramics is always ready to customize its collections to meet the requirements of the most demanding clients.
